A press conference was held Sunday, November 6, 2011 at the Shanghai International Convention Center. Dr. Yuanlin Song, secretary general of the Asia-Pacific Society for Respirology (APSR) 2011 conference, emceed the press conference.
The press conference began with a keynote speech by ICC co-chair Nanshan Zhong concerning Chinese and global efforts to fight COPD.
Mary Sau-Man Ip, APSR president, presented a brief introduction of APSR, a summary of the APSR 2011 meeting, and the outlook for APSR activities in 2012. Chunxue Bai, president of the 16th APSR conference, also gave his thoughts on the recently concluded APSR meeting.
ICC co-chair Rongchang Chen then presented news about Chinese research to develop a portable peak flow meter for early diagnosis of COPD.
Finally, Jean Bousquet, chair of the Global Alliance against Chronic Respiratory Diseases, announced the ICC Achievement Award to Dr. Zhu Chen and the Chinese Ministry of Health.
A question-and-answer session with media members followed the presentations.
