COPD Patients’ Global Bill of Rights

The COPD Patients’ Global Bill of Rights was an important achievement of the First World Conference of COPD Patients in Rome, Italy, 2009. This groundbreaking document sets out seven basic human rights that all COPD patients worldwide deserve.

The development of the Bill of Rights was a great example of an international collaborative process. The International COPD Coalition produced a first draft of the text in advance of the Conference. All ICC member organizations contributed ideas. At the Conference attendees discussed and refined the text and, at the close of the Conference, voted unanimously to endorse it.
